Understanding Trauma
Education and considerations for yoga teachers to consciously support trauma-impacted students
In this course, we will explore the nervous system, the neurobiology of trauma, and how we biologically respond to stress. You will look at how various types of traumatic stress may physiologically manifest and consider how to support your students in a studio setting.
You will learn how yoga intersects in trauma recovery and the importance of the mind-body connection when working with trauma-impacted folks.
You will experience somatic practices and yoga techniques that can be used to influence the regulation of the nervous system.
Learn how to share impactful techniques with your students through a trauma-conscious lens within the scope of teaching yoga.
This course will not only help you to better serve your students affected by trauma, but it will also teach you how to self-soothe and regulate your own stress responses.

I am dedicated to making yoga more equitable and accessible for all folks. This means that the tuition for almost all of my courses and classes is on a sliding scale. As much as I would love to give the courses completely as a gift, I still have the upkeep of websites, insurance, my own education, and bills to pay. A sliding scale allows folks the opportunity to pay at a discounted rate if they are in financial need or to pay at a higher tier to support my work and time. The highest tier is an opportunity to "pay it forward." All profit beyond the regular tuition is funneled into a scholarship fund that I offer to marginalized communities often left out of the Western yoga world.
